Pricing 101 | #1

Jan 05, 2023

One of the first questions when it comes to pricing is knowing whether to charge hourly or per deliverable/project. When you charge hourly, your time is directly tied to the amount of money you can make.

As you grow as a creative, you’re going to get more efficient at the way your work. You’ll be able to think of ideas faster, and execute them faster. This means that you’ll be completing projects faster but you’ll end up making less money. When you work more efficiently, you’ll end up being punished for it because you’ll be making a lot less money. Now you can keep raising your hourly rates, but that might get hard for your clients to understand. If you’re charging per project however, you’ll be able to make the same amount of money, in less time. Like I said, you’ll be getting more efficient at your craft, and in turn, you’ll be rewarded for that.
